Today, after a long silence, I wanted to tell you about a TV in Italy that goes almost unnoticed (to 06.00 on Rete 4, to come on Sunday!): 'The West Wing '. With P2P I enjoyed the entire first season in playlist (a song after the other) and I must say that the product is outstanding. The series tells the story of a select group of employees of the U.S. president (which in the 'fiction' is not Republican and has the face of titanic Martin Sheen) that 'live' the west wing of the White House, the headquarters staff.
The first season is breathtaking. Almost all episodes are made of a solid and, often, through devices well-packed narrative. The filming and editing technique help to define timing and rhythm, often frenetic, the action. The reconstruction of the details and the chain of command Assault is manic.
I have not seen the rest (the seventh season in the States we are!), But I think I can say that the first we are already at historically high levels, difficult to replicate in a serial product.
Perhaps the production for the small screen is not all to be thrown away: watching 'The West Wing' and a film à la Capra can be equally rewarding? Maybe yes.
If only 'gave' to a decent time ...
